Ilia Topuria Mocks Arman Tsarukyan’s Backup Role for Lightweight Title Fight

Ilia Topuria has responded to the announcement that top contender Arman Tsarukyan will be the backup fighter for the upcoming lightweight title unification bout between Topuria and Justin Gaethje. UFC President Dana White confirmed this development earlier in the week.

Topuria, who has shown a clear dislike for Tsarukyan in the past, took to social media to tease the latter about his recurring role as a backup fighter. “He’s always a backup,” Topuria stated.

In further comments made during another interview, Topuria expressed indifference regarding his opponent for the June 14th fight. He conveyed strong confidence that the outcome would remain the same regardless of who steps into the octagon against him.

Justin Gaethje Issues Warning to Ilia Topuria

Meanwhile, Justin Gaethje, the current interim UFC lightweight champion, delivered a stern warning to Ilia Topuria during a recent press conference. Gaethje declared his intention to risk everything in their upcoming fight on June 14th, promising to deliver a knockout blow and “throw missiles” at Topuria.

Gaethje acknowledged that this could potentially be his final fight if he does not emerge victorious, but he remains resolute in his commitment to compete for the undisputed title.
