Lucia Szabová Becomes Oktagon Flyweight Champion, Makes History

Lucia Szabová achieved a historic milestone at Oktagon 87 by decisively defeating Leidiane Fernandes to secure the vacant flyweight championship.

Fernandes initiated the fight with a strong offensive display in the first round, showcasing her grappling prowess and aiming for an early victory. However, the momentum shifted in the second round as Fernandes began to show signs of fatigue. This opened the door for Szabová to dominate the engagement, pressuring the Brazilian fighter and landing effective knee strikes in the clinch.

The third round saw Szabová further assert her control over the fight.

Szabová relentlessly attacked Fernandes with knees and elbows. She then managed to trip her opponent to the mat and quickly transitioned to the mount position. With Szabová delivering a barrage of strikes, Fernandes was unable to improve her position, leading the referee to intervene and stop the contest.

Official Result: Lucia Szabová defeated Leidiane Fernandes by TKO (ground and pound) at 2:12 of Round 3, becoming the new Oktagon MMA flyweight world champion.

Szabová has now etched her name in the promotional history books as the first female fighter to simultaneously hold championships in two different weight classes.
