UFC London Fight Cancelled: Luana Carolina Fails Weight Cut by 8 Pounds
The UFC London fight card has been reduced by one bout just a day before the event at The O2 Arena. The scheduled bantamweight clash between Luana Carolina and Melissa Mullins was officially canceled following Friday's weigh-ins due to a significant weight discrepancy.
Luana Carolina registered a weight of 144 pounds, an alarming eight pounds over the 136-pound non-title limit for her bantamweight contest. Her opponent, Melissa Mullins, had successfully made weight at 136 pounds on the dot.
Despite reports indicating both fighters were initially willing to proceed with the bout, the UFC ultimately decided to scrap the fight, citing regulatory reasons due to the considerable weight difference. Mullins expressed her disappointment on social media, confirming that a mutual agreement to fight was overridden by commission concerns.
Melissa "No Mess" Mullins (7-2 overall, 2-2 UFC) was looking to bounce back from a unanimous decision loss at UFC Baku in June 2025. Meanwhile, Luana "Dread" Carolina (6-4 UFC) was coming off a unanimous decision loss at UFC Perth in September.
This incident marks the third time Carolina has missed weight during her UFC career, with previous instances occurring in 2021 and February 2024. Additionally, a planned bout in March 2025 was canceled after she failed to make it to the scale due to a challenging weight cut, contributing to a troubling pattern of weight management issues.
