Dana White Questions if Islam Makhachev's New UFC Record Will Ever Be Broken

Islam Makhachev has achieved a new UFC record for the most consecutive victories, leading UFC President Dana White to ponder if this accomplishment will ever be surpassed. White described Makhachev's achievement as "very impressive."

In his initial welterweight title defense this past Saturday, Makhachev secured his 17th consecutive win via a unanimous decision against Ian Machado Garry. This victory surpassed the previous record held by UFC Hall of Famer Anderson Silva, and many anticipate Makhachev will extend his winning streak further.

During the UFC 330 post-fight press conference, White shared his thoughts with reporters, suggesting that Makhachev's record might remain unbroken for the foreseeable future. "If he keeps going like he says he’s going to keep going, I mean, it might never be beaten, at least while I’m alive," White stated. He further elaborated on Makhachev's impressive performance, highlighting how he overcame a strong and rangy opponent like Garry. White emphasized that Makhachev "did everything he needed to do to beat this guy," underscoring the importance of weight classes as demonstrated by the fight's outcome.

White had previously expressed criticism of Garry's performance at UFC 330, acknowledging Garry's talent but suggesting a lack of a "killer instinct" in the final round. He also humorously admitted that Garry's display of sportsmanship towards the end of the bout was frustrating for him.

Makhachev has indicated his intention to compete again before Ramadan, with a potential return in January 2027, provided he avoids any injuries.
