Dustin Poirier has strongly reacted to Nate Diaz’s humiliating defeat against Mike Perry. Diaz, making his return to MMA at MVP MMA 1, suffered a difficult outing against the BKFC fighter.
Although Diaz landed some strikes, Perry’s relentless pace and high-volume offense dominated the fight. Perry repeatedly broke Diaz down, causing severe cuts that left Diaz’s face heavily bloodied by the end of the second round. Diaz’s corner ultimately stopped the fight, awarding Perry a TKO victory.
Despite the loss, Diaz has indicated he has no immediate plans to retire and wishes for a rematch with Perry once he has recovered.
Dustin Poirier Criticizes Nate Diaz’s Performance
Dustin Poirier believes Nate Diaz should cease his trash talk following his loss to Mike Perry and needs to take a break. Poirier stated:
“After the way he looked on Saturday night, he can’t talk right now. He needs to take a break, get some sleep, and get some rest. He looked like dog sh*t. He looked like he didn’t want to be in there, looked like a punching bag, looked off balance, and his timing was horrible.”
Poirier also reiterated his offer to fight Diaz, stating he is willing to compete at 170 pounds and re-enter the drug testing pool if Diaz accepts.
“My invitation is still out there. At 170, I will go back in the drug testing protocol. I WILL KNOCK NATE DIAZ COMPLETE OUT.”
Following his UFC retirement, Poirier had expressed interest in a boxing match with Diaz under the Zuffa Boxing banner, but the idea did not materialize.
