Khamzat Chimaev Accuses Judges of Bias in Defeat to Sean Strickland, Vows Violent Rematch

Following his split-decision loss to Sean Strickland at UFC 328, Khamzat Chimaev has publicly asserted that the judges favored Strickland due to his American nationality. Chimaev has challenged Strickland to a title rematch, issuing a chilling warning that he will inflict a brutal outcome.

During their bout, Chimaev deviated from his usual wrestling-heavy strategy, opting instead for striking exchanges. Despite Chimaev’s higher output and control of the fight’s pace on the feet, Strickland ultimately secured a split-decision victory.

Many within the mixed martial arts community believe Chimaev deserved the win. The Chechen-born fighter recently voiced his opinion on X (formerly Twitter), suggesting a perceived bias:

“All judges are Americans, the organization is American, the opponent is American and one is Chechen. It’s a close fight, who do you think will win? 😂”

Chimaev Issues Chilling Threat to Strickland

After his title loss, Chimaev initially considered a move to light heavyweight. However, he has now decided to remain in the middleweight division to pursue a rematch with Strickland, expressing confidence in reclaiming the championship. Chimaev recently sent a stern warning to Strickland via X:

“I’m waiting tell me when you’re ready @SStricklandMMA Next time somebody has to be dead.”

In a subsequent post, Chimaev added:

“No excuses, I just wanna f*ck him up. This sh*t trying to run away.”

While Chimaev is eager for an immediate rematch, the reigning two-time UFC middleweight champion, Sean Strickland, has indicated that Chimaev must secure a few more victories before earning another title shot. Strickland is currently recovering from a broken nose and a shoulder injury sustained during their fight, and is expected to be sidelined for three to four months. Chimaev and his team have expressed interest in a potential rematch in October, coinciding with the UFC’s event in Abu Dhabi.
