Trump's June Portfolio: Selling Meta, Buying Berkshire Hathaway Amidst Broad Realignments
President Donald Trump executed over a thousand financial transactions in June, indicating a substantial overhaul of his investment portfolio. These activities encompassed a diverse range of stocks, bonds, and exchange-traded funds.
The total value of these transactions falls within the range of $78.1 million to $263.1 million, according to Trump's most recent filing on August 22. This report provides a value range for each transaction rather than precise figures. His purchases of securities amounted to over $49 million, while his sales reached at least $28.5 million.
While these filings offer insight into Trump's investment activities, they do not present a comprehensive picture of his entire portfolio. The reported amounts are not exact, and the extent of his ownership in any specific security is not disclosed.
Among the 1,051 transactions, the most significant was the sale of shares in the Vanguard Dividend Appreciation Index Fund ETF, valued between $5 million and $25 million, on June 22. On the same day, he invested between $1 million and $5 million each in Fidelity National Information Services and Home Depot. These were notable among several purchases of these stocks in June, though he also recorded some sales of Fidelity.
On June 18, Trump divested shares of Meta and Motorola, each valued between $1 million and $5 million. Concurrently, he acquired shares in Berkshire Hathaway, Cintas, Visa, and Mastercard within the same value range. These moves occurred shortly after a market downturn attributed to concerns about monetary policy. June 17 marked the conclusion of Federal Reserve Chairman Kevin Warsh's initial meeting. The market saw a rebound on June 18.
Additional purchases in June included various ETFs such as the iShares U.S. Treasury Bond ETF, State Street Technology Select Sector SPDR ETF, and the iShares GSCI Commodity Dynamic Roll Strategy ETF. Trump also acquired several municipal bonds.
His sales portfolio for June included the Vanguard Short-Term Bond Index Fund ETF, State Street Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR ETF, and the Vanguard FTSE Europe ETF.
These ETF transactions, along with 25 other stock, bond, and ETF transactions, ranged from $1 million to $5 million. The remaining transactions were valued at $1 million or less. Disclosure is mandated for securities transactions exceeding $1,000.
The president also engaged in trading Palantir Technologies shares, buying between $1,001 and $15,000 on June 3. He sold shares worth $15,001 to $50,000 on June 16 and an additional $500,001 to $1 million on June 18. This period coincided with a peace agreement between the U.S. and Iran on June 14. He made a small purchase of Palantir again on June 23.
Two other defense companies, RTX and Northrop Grumman, were also featured in the president's disclosure. Trump acquired RTX shares valued between $100,001 and $250,000 on June 12, and sold Northrop Grumman shares valued between $1,001 and $15,000 on the same day. He subsequently repurchased Northrop on June 23 and sold it again on June 24.
He also traded Coinbase shares throughout the month, during a period of decline in Bitcoin's value. From June 12 to June 23, he offloaded shares worth between $116,003 and $315,000, and then bought shares valued between $50,001 and $100,000 on June 24.
The White House has not yet responded to requests for comment. In May, a spokesman stated that the president's assets are held in a trust managed by his children, asserting that there are no conflicts of interest and that President Trump acts in the best interests of the American public.
