Dana White Clarifies Role in Fury vs. Joshua Promotion Amidst Max Kellerman's Statements
Dana White addressed Max Kellerman's recent remarks concerning White's involvement in promoting the Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua fight.
White's participation has reportedly jeopardized the long-anticipated heavyweight boxing match. Eddie Hearn of Matchroom stated that, according to the initial agreement's terms, White is prohibited from any involvement. Turki Alalshikh, however, has pushed for White's inclusion, creating complications.
During a Zuffa Boxing broadcast featuring Johnny Fisher vs. Michael Pirotton, Kellerman, while on commentary, described White's role. He stated, "Dana White’s involvement in the fight, so people know, is purely in assisting Turki Alalshikh, who has been the engine behind just about every big fight in boxing over the last handful of years. He’s assisting Turki in a personal capacity, not as a promoter."
Responding to Kellerman's comments, White told reporters, "I don’t know where that came from. That was weird. We’re promoting the fight right now. I’ve said 150,000 times I don’t know if I’ve ever known anybody who’s more full of f*cking shit than Eddie Hearn."
This dispute marks another obstacle in finalizing the Fury vs. Joshua bout. Hearn also opposed the fight taking place in the United States, and his preference prevailed as the event is now slated for December 11 in Cardiff.
