Arman Tsarukyan: Off-Season Weight Reaches 190 Lbs & Diet Habits Revealed
Top UFC lightweight contender Arman Tsarukyan recently shed light on his fluctuating weight and eating patterns when he's not in active preparation for a fight.
Tsarukyan explained that during a fight camp, he maintains a strict and healthy diet with the assistance of a personal chef. His typical regimen includes nutritious options such as eggs or yogurt with granola for breakfast, pasta for lunch, and fish or meat accompanied by vegetables for dinner. This disciplined approach ensures he meets his weight goals.
However, outside of camp, Tsarukyan admits to a much more relaxed approach to food. He revealed his enjoyment of various indulgent meals, stating:
“When I am not in camp or on a diet, I eat what I want to eat. Right now I eat everything… Burgers, too. I like more meat, steaks, BBQ, fried chicken… I like Sushi as well.”
Arman Tsarukyan Reveals Heaviest Off-Season Weight
During a discussion, Arman Tsarukyan disclosed that his off-season weight can soar to significant levels, often surpassing that of a middleweight fighter. He noted that he sometimes weighs "86-87 kgs," which is approximately 190 pounds. This substantial gain makes the cut to his fighting weight of 155 pounds particularly challenging, requiring him to shed around 35 pounds before a bout.
“[In the off-season] I weigh 86-87 kgs. It’s like 190 [pounds]. And then it’s difficult to come down, you have to cut so much weight. It is like 35 pounds.”
Despite the considerable weight cut required for the lightweight division, Tsarukyan has previously expressed a desire to move down to featherweight (145 pounds) to challenge former two-time champion Alexander Volkanovski.
Currently, Tsarukyan does not have a scheduled UFC fight. He has voiced interest in serving as a backup fighter for the upcoming lightweight title unification bout between Ilia Topuria and Justin Gaethje, scheduled for June 14. Should he not be needed as a replacement, the 29-year-old Armenian fighter anticipates his next fight announcement will be made following a planned event at the White House.
