Parker Porter Challenges Andrei Arlovski for "Predestined" BKFC Heavyweight Title
Andrei Arlovski, currently a world heavyweight champion, has been challenged by fellow BKFC heavyweight Parker Porter. Following an impressive victory over Haze Wilson at BKFC Mohegan Sun on March 28th, the former UFC fighter has rapidly ascended the bare-knuckle ranks and now has his sights set on 'The Pitbull'.
Arlovski himself achieved championship status swiftly in bare-knuckle boxing, securing the title within just two fights. Porter was present at BKFC KnuckleMania VI in Philadelphia, witnessing Arlovski's decisive victory over Ben Rothwell to claim the heavyweight crown. Reflecting on Arlovski's performance, Porter commented: "He was utterly dominant, arguably the best we've seen him in a long time. He appeared significantly sharper than in his debut against Josh Copeland. While Ben [Rothwell] might not have been at his peak, it certainly worked to Arlovski's advantage. He looked incredibly good, precise, explosive, and fast."
Porter further elaborated on Arlovski's capabilities: "With his immense experience and resources, you'd expect him to excel in any endeavor, be it BKFC, MMA, or anything else. He possesses an incredible wealth of knowledge, experience, and accomplishments. My primary hope is to get the opportunity to face him. It would be an honor, and I desire that belt irrespective of its holder. However, fighting Arlovski for the championship would truly be a dream come true. If he defends it against someone else before I get there, I sincerely hope he retains it."
Andrei Arlovski and Parker Porter: A "Predestined" BKFC Encounter?
Porter's desire to face Arlovski extends beyond merely chasing the championship belt. He explained that their paths nearly converged previously during their respective tenures in the UFC. "Absolutely, 100%," Porter affirmed. "We almost fought once or twice when I was in the UFC, even before he retired from the promotion. The fact that he's now in BKFC, holding the championship, and I'm actively pursuing that same belt, it genuinely feels predestined for us to eventually meet. I'm eagerly anticipating that moment being for a title."
The BKFC heavyweight division is experiencing significant growth, continually attracting formidable talent. Fighters like knockout artist Leonardo Perdomo and former world champion Mick Terrill, who recently secured the BKFC UK heavyweight title, are among the many intriguing new additions. Porter, a ranked contender, commented on the burgeoning health of the division: "Indeed, it appears we're seeing an influx of highly talented fighters, and the sport is gaining substantial momentum. I was previously asked if I thought BKFC was more suited for older, experienced fighters like myself, rather than younger, rising talents. I believe that due to BKFC's surging popularity and the frequency of their events, younger fighters are now increasingly viewing it as a viable career path."
He added: "In the past, the sport was so novel that mainly seasoned veterans, eager for a new challenge, were willing to participate. Now, with this shift, I anticipate an even greater influx of top-tier heavyweights entering the ranks."
